Rationale

My chosen societal issue was social media. My overall issue within social media was addiction (con) the point i was trying to get across, is that not only does social media start to rule your life it actually starts to effect your health if too much time is spent on it. The dominant aspect of the poster is the image. When looking at the poster your eye takes you straight to the image and your eyes follow the unplugged cord down to the tag line, i think this has a good sense of visual flow and gives the audience time to think about what the image is/means before reading the tagline. Visual rhetoric would be juxtaposition. Through the cords coming out of a head, this pairing creates unexpected contrasts and forces examination of what is actually being implied. Ihi is created through the colour, scale, image and positioning of the issue (most dominant aspect, big centered, top). The image creates feelings of curiosity and instant concern for their health or their kids health and so on, this then encourages you to spend less time on social media, choosing appropriate times to use social media this may be to contact relatives of live overseas, or a friend who now lives elsewhere - This is the Wehi response.

Final Poster

After changing the direction of the cord i feel like the overall flow works better. When it came to text i had to download this font as my computer was only offering very few. Im happy with the overall outcome

Development

This is the font i have chosen its clean, simple and easy to read. i think it relates well to the overall concept. One thing i have noticed, it that the unplugged plug isnt leading to anything. i feel like it would look better if its direction was towards the text, making it easy for your eyes to navigate their way through the poster.

T

Development

After getting some further feedback, it was the text that needed to be worked on the text wasn't working with the overall concept. So i went away and played with some different fonts. I felt like the cleaner the font the more well suited it was to the idea.

Initial text: The first font was alright but wasnt really suitable or bold enough for the main tagline. so i looked at another font which i actually quite liked as it gave me the whole technology robot feel, so i thought i related quite well to the theme, but as i kept looking into font i decided that, this font wasnt quite right. When it came to positioning of the text, the text on two lines was working better than the tagline across 1 line.

Development

I wanted to play on the gradient and different tones of the 'Facebook' blue.

Week 6

 Development Week 6

Last week i started to look into the brain cells, and the idea of having chords coming out of a head. I went home and developed those initial sketches and sketched up a cleaner version in photoshop and illustrator. I then put that into context, and started to look at background colours. i was initially going to leave it as an off white, but in session one of week 6 everyone seemed to have bland backgrounds so i started to experiment. I looked at orange for the smaller text, but realized it looked to much like the voting colors and didn't want to send off mixed messages, so started looking into social media site colours. I ended going with the Facebook colour blue, which could also relate to twitter and various other social media websites. The most successful of the blues had to be the concept with the blue gradient.
