Today we were introduced to the project brief and the concepts 'ihi and wehi'. Our brief is to design a poster communicating a standpoint on a societal issue. The three societal issues are: Voting, Social Media and Megastores (how they are destroying small local businesses)
In class we were shown a few videos and already existing posters on these topics/issues to give us a better understanding on these topics- making it easy for us to choose. In class we had to go out and observe our chosen issue and identify 'ihi' and 'wehi' components.
Tuesday 15th July - Session Two
Today we went over everyones observations/research on their chosen issue. we continued to discuss possible topics within the issue, and towards the end of class we had a verbal debate.
My chosen societal issue is social media, for independent study i went away and did a brainstorm of what what social media is, and what is does to you/makes you feel. I then looked into visual research and started looking into posters and articles around social media. I also started looking at examples of visual rhetoric found online for inspiration.
